Abstract: NOS FAILS to BOOT when SERVER is REBOOTED DURING REBUILD
SYMPTOM:
Network Operating System (NOS) fails to load if the Server is rebooted while in
the middle of a rebuild of a RAID-1, or RAID-5 drive.
When the rebuild is finished the Server will boot fine.
Some of the errors that could be seen when the problem occurs, include
not being able for the NOS to see the drive, or not being able to find
files necessary for the NOS to completely come up.
PROBLEM ISOLATION AIDS:
ServeRAID II (Including on-board)
ServeRAID 3L
ServeRAID 3H
For ServeRAID II and Onboard ServeRAID II:
all levels prior to 2.87.03.
For the ServeRAID 3H or ServeRAID 3L):
all levels prior to 3.10.08.
FIX:
This problem is fixed in the IBM ServeRAID BIOS Firmware Update Diskette v3.10.
The fix is to upgrade the BIOS and Firmware to this level or greater.
Note: Anytime you upgrade to a new version of ServeRAID
software, we recommend that you upgrade all components,
(Firmware, BIOS, Device Drivers, Command Line Utilities, ServeRAID Administration Utility, etc.).
The fix, version 3.10 or later, and the other recommended ServeRAID diskettes can be
